Alexandra Wuzyk is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in South Africa. She studied Fine Art at LUCA School of Arts in Belgium, where her work grew to focus on the โ€˜moment of meetingโ€™ through interactive performances and projects inviting people into co-creational and embodied roles. (A Human Interaction, Human Constellations)

She first encountered contact improvisation in 2020 and fell in love with the practice as an embodied education for life. She has been actively practicing and studying since then, mostly with ๐‘ป๐’“๐’‚๐’๐’”๐’‡๐’๐’“๐’Ž๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’—๐’† ๐‘ณ๐’†๐’‚๐’“๐’๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ in Thailand. Through TOWARDS she has been a part of many long-durational workshops and retreats as artist in residence or support team. She has had the opportunity to study CI in-depth with teachers such as such as Sasha Dodo, Dolores Dewhurst-Marks, Kirstie Simson, Ku Ming-Shen, Bari Kim, Yasukichi Suzuki, Anjelika Doniy, Alicia Grayson and many more.

She believes in Contact Improvisation as a space that transcends cultural barriers and opens much needed states of listening.

Her artistic work includes painting, film, poetry and performance. She considers states of improvisation as the birthspace of creative practice, and finds the most interesting arts evolve through focusing on processes moment by moment, resisting the urge to plan what happens next. Her interest is to allow natural rhythm and simple truth to reveal itself.

In 2023 she completed a residency teaching contact improvisation at ๐—™๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ผ๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—”๐—ป๐—ด๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—น๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ, a project sharing dance education for all in Emakhazeni, South Africa, near her hometown in Mpumalanga.
