Human Constellations
Movement and Social Research / 6 Labs in public space / Brussels 2021
Human Constellations is an experimental laboratory in which we explore first encounters and interconnected movement. Participants (movers) are linked together with various materials – long wooden poles, strings or elastic. The constellation is guided by the improvisation energy of a group of musicians – bassoon, violin etc - and takes place in public space under the sky.
Participants (movers) are free to be involved in the design of the constellation (which materials they connect with, which parts of the body are restricted or activated, etc) and may move or dance in any way they feel comfortable, effected by the evolution of the soundscape or reacting to the impulses of the other bodies present.
The focus is to explore the sensation and limitations of moving together.
As well as a space for creating non-verbal encounters as first impressions.

// What would a first encounter feel like without words?
the distance between bodies bridged by the touch of a material
listening - responding - listening
giving your full attention to another human being in a non-verbal encounter //
